How to Make a Radical Feminist

by Sarah Wilson November 01, 2008

Start young. It’s never too early to tell her all the things she can’t do now, because she’s a girl, and all the things she won’t be able to do when she grows up, because she’ll be a woman. Shame her if she doesn’t like playing with children or babysitting. Teach her how gross her body is. Denounce important public figures who are women. Make sure she knows that the only real sin a female can commit is to have have extramarital sex. Make it clear that God is a man. Make it clear that only men can speak for God. Make it clear that a uterus is a major impediment to the Holy Spirit. If she starts to object, reassure her there’s lots and lots of ways women can serve in the humility that God desires which don’t involve speaking in public or studying. Point out how in fact superior women are in their silent humility compared to braying males. Lament that men aren’t more like women but don’t do a thing to change it. Laugh good-naturedly at sexual harassment. Accuse all women who make accusations of sexual abuse of lying and character assassination. Insist that such things never happen in the church; but if they do, point out how they’re probably brought on by women’s inappropriate behavior and dress. Overreact when she begins to distrust the church. Express horror and concern for her salvation when she experiments with other interpretations. Tell her there’s no place for her here. Or, if you secretly suspect she might be on to something, apologize to her privately, but keep your own mouth shut, in this one instance of emulation of the feminine ideal.

This is a guaranteed method. Radical feminists are always produced by the kind of people who despise them most.

Political correctness

Good point, Sarah. Political correctness has gone overboard in some areas, but people who lambast it have forgotten that its original goals (including stopping the behavior you have described) were legitimate.

Thanks! It distresses me how often this is forgotten.
